March Wrap-Up // A Less Stressful Month With Lots of Books

It’s officially been one year of covid / quarantine!

I personally can’t believe it’s been over 12 months of being stuck at home most of the time!! It’s felt so long and I’m both excited and dreading to have to go back to in-person school and socialize (what is this again).

Fortunately, March was a less stressful month than the last, and it’s finally April (my birthday month!). So today, I’m going to be talking about how my March went, except it’s already April and I already forgot most of the things that happened last month! :DD

I read 10 books this month (though I wanted to read a little more)! This really is my year of reading all the latest releases 😌 I also started some new webcomics (and binged most of them).

Overall, I had a great reading month. I found some new favorites, and I’m hoping to read some middle grade novels next month!

the insomniacs a song of wraiths and ruin in deeper waters fifteen hundred miles from the sun cool for the summer

  • The Insomniacs by Marit Weisenberg ☾ a thriller I read on a whim which I deeply regret doing!! I didn’t care for anything or anyone in the book β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†β˜†
  • A Song of Wraiths and Ruin by Roseanne A. Brown ☾ a fantasy inspired by African folklore that I thoroughly enjoyed β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜† [3.5]
  • In Deeper Waters by F.T. Lukens ☾ I genuinely don’t really remember anything from this except the fact that it was decently enjoyable (and there are gays at sea) β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†
  • Fifteen Hundred Miles from the Sun by Jonny Garza Villa ☾ I loved this very queer contemporary so much!! RTC β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜† [4.5]
  • Cool for the Summer by Dahlia Adler ☾ I wished I could have loved this more, but I didn’t find any of the characters interesting (and it had possibly problematic content) β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†β˜†
  • lost in the never woods the infinity courts made in korea deep and darkest red the dead and the dark

  • Lost in the Never Woods by Aiden Thomas ☾ I hate it when books I have high expectations for let me down,, like this one πŸ˜” I honestly was bored half the time β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†
  • The Infinity Courts by Akemi Dawn Bowman ☾ there is no other way to describe this except absolutely amazing!! 10/10 would read again (I already did…) β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜† [4.5] [review]
  • Made in Korea by Sarah Suk ☾ one of the cutest and funniest contemporaries I’ve had the pleasure of reading! I felt so culturally represented by this β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†
  • Dark and Deepest Red by Anna-Marie McLemore ☾ a fascinating retelling with McLemore’s signature prose β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜† [3.5]
  • The Dead and the Dark by Courtney Gould ☾ a haunting, gripping paranormal mystery with queer rep, though I was so confused at times! β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜† [3.5]
  • book haul

flatlay of advance copies of SHE WHO BECAME THE SUN, THE INFINITY COURTS, and MADE IN KOREA, with a paper rose on the left

Thank you so much to the publishers for sending me these ARCs!! I’m still in disbelief that I was lucky enough to receive three of my most anticipated releases in advance, and I’ve already read all of them because I simply could not wait, and they really are as good as they sound.

    • I posted significantly more this month, and I am so proud of it!! And for once, I actually enjoyed writing them!
    • And I just realized that I’ve been blogging for nine months already (if you count the first three months where I barely posted anything at all)?! It’s been so long already, I can’t believe it! expect a one-year blogiversary post in,, three months lmao

School wasn’t as stressful, but I’m now in the last quarter (about 35 school days left) of the school year! By this point, I’m just excited for school to end and for summer to start!!

I had spring break, which sadly lasted for only a week (but then again, summer break is three months… it’s worth it). I was also very productive, read a lot, and felt relaxed for the first time in a while.

I started Haikyuu!!, which is very cute and funny so far and gave me so much serotonin πŸ₯Ί I can’t wait to continue it! Not surprisingly, I listened to a lot of LOOΞ Ξ” (Heart Attack and love4eva were on repeat) and RosΓ©’s solos (they finally released and I love them!).

how was your March? what are you looking forward to in April?? what were some of the best books you read last month?

    5. Ah I agree with you about Lost in the Neverwoods, I also read it at the end of march/beginning of april and I was disappointed as well 😦 I loved Cemetery Boys and this one sounded super good as well but just…nope.
Anyways, looks like you had an awesome March! Yeah, it’s been a year of quarantine, it’s crazy. Everything went so…fast??? What????
I’m so jealous that you got She Who Became the Sun, it’s one of my most anticipated releases of the year! (granted, I didn’t actually, ya know, try to get it in any way so maybe I don’t have a right to be jealous…but still….)
