February Wrap-Up // School Consumed. . . Everything

I’m sorry but what happened??

What I hate about writing monthly recaps is that I forget literally everything that happened in the last month (yes it’s happening to me right now πŸ™ƒ).

February was a month of both boredom and busyness for me. I was in a little slump where I just,, wasn’t excited to read and sat around doing nothing at all.I also didn’t get to blog as much as I hoped to, mainly because of school (which takes up all my time and energy), but also because of my lack of motivation to get things done!!

this basically sums up my life this month

Today I’ll be wrapping upΒ what happened in February, including an average reading month, lots of school, and very good movies & TV shows!

I read 10 books this month! Which puts me at exactly TWO books ahead of my Goodreads goal! (When have I ever been ahead of it?? I have no idea.)

iron heart girls of storm & shadow bone crier's moon a dark & hollow star

  • Iron Heart by Nina Varela ☾ the sequel to one of my favorite series!! it was just as good as the first book, which was surprising! β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†
  • Girls of Storm and Shadow by Natasha Ngan ☾ it was worse than the first book, but the banter was absolute perfection, and I’m highly anticipating the third book β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†
  • Bone Crier’s Moon by Kathryn Purdie ☾ this was a reread of one of my (very) old favorites, and sadly had to lower my rating! β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†
  • A Dark and Hollow Star by Ashley Shuttleworth ☾ I loved this angsty, dark, urban fantasy with four queer teens and two worlds (RTC!). β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†
  • Hani and Ishu’s Guide to Fake Dating by Adiba Jaigirdar ☾ this was such a good book with a cute sapphic romance and well-written relationships (and banter!) β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†
  • we are the fire one of us is lying the sky blues the ones we're meant to find

  • We Are the Fire by Sam Taylor ☾ this was a fantasy with an interesting concept and so much potential, but sadly, it didn’t live up β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†β˜† [2.5]
  • One of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus ☾ this handled depression/mental illness in the worst way possible, and romanticized suicide. it was so sick and I guessed the ‘murderer’ from the very start β˜…β˜†β˜†β˜†β˜†
  • The Sky Blues by Robbie Couch ☾ I loved the queer rep and the characters! while I wouldn’t call it a cute and fluffy story, it made me smile (and laugh) so much! β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†
  • The Ones We’re Meant to Find by Joan He ☾ after reading another one of her books, it’s confirmed: Joan He is officially one of my all-time favorite authors. the pain this put me through πŸ₯Ί β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜† [4.5]
  • Follow Your Arrow by Jessica Verdi ☾ this was an important story that tackles social issues such as biphobia without bringing down the cheerful atmosphere! β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†
    • I didn’t post much in February, but I’m hoping to post more soon!!
    • And a little side note: I might take a little break from blogging sometime in March, just to catch up on posts, blog hop, and focus more on school!

School. I literally mention this in every wrap-up, but it takes up so much of my life and I hate it!! I had so much homework (to the point where I was buried in it 🀧). But there were a few upsides—I have a dance performance coming up for my school’s spring concert, and spring break is coming up!!!

I watched a lot of things this month, and thankfully enjoyed them all! I started a rewatch of She-Ra and fell in love with the characters all over again. There was also a new sci-fi movie starring Korean characters called Space Sweepers (and omg it was so? good??!). And last but not least, the Shadow & Bone trailer released. It looks so good and made me want to actually try watching it!

how was your February? did you read any good books? where are you in terms of reading goals? have you watched She-Ra yet??

    1. At this point, trying to remember February is a struggle! But I can definitely relate to school consuming your entire life. That’s the reason that it’s taken me so long to thank you for mentioning our post in your wrap up.

Thankfully now I’m done with the semester, and I’m excited to get back into reading and blogging while I have all this nice, free time.

I hope that school is coming to an end gently, and that you’re having a great month both reading and otherwise!

    3. Good luck with school! I know how time consuming and stressful it can be. I’m trying to hurry up and read all of Bardugo’s books to get ready to watch the Netflix series. Can’t wait for it!

    6. Space Sweepers was amazing, wasn’t it?! I’m not normally big on sci-fi, but my boyfriend wanted to watch it and I was genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed it.

I’m sorry school’s taking up so much of your life at the moment. Hope things ease up soon!

    7. Of course school takes up a big part of your life! That being said, you had a great erading month! I am just sad that One of Us Is Lying didn’t work for you!

    8. Aawh Katie, I’m so sorry to hear school’s been so bad, but you’re strong, okay? I didn’t have a great February either because of the same reasons, actually. Also I’m currently rereading One of us is lying and I used to love it so much and I can’t deny that I still love reading it right now, but it’s really, really handled wrongly. I definitely get why you’re disgusted and it’s something that should be talked about more. Either way, I can’t wait to read some of the books you read (The Ones we’re meant to find sounds soooo good)! Great post love!!

    11. I relate so hard to your thoughts on February, and the meme…*sigh*. We keep hoping that the next month will be better and then it just, isn’t.

That being said, I hope March is better for you!!! (Yes I can feel the hypocrisy in this sentence, shhhh)

All those book covers look really prettyyyyy I want

I’ve tried so hard to watch she ra and yet, I’m stuck on the end of season 4, and have been stuck since early January. *more sighing*

Good luck with school and your reading goals!!

    12. Ack, yep school is all-encompassing haha. Good luck on school! Aaah you read some aMAZING books this month, though–I’m currently reading A Dark and Hollow Star and am SUPER excited for it–but I heard there’s a cliffhanger and I am afraid.
Oh, I see that you read the Girls of Paper and Fire sequel. Given that GPF didn’t really end on a cliffhanger until the epilogue, I don’t reeeeally feel like it needs a book two but honestly I might pick it up at a point when I don’t have anything else to read or something.
Thank you for mentioning my post, I’m glad that you enjoyed it! Can’t wait to see your posts in March and best of luck in reading for this coming month!

        1. Thanks😊 school can be tough sometimes, even though I love it too (it’s a strange relationship) The amount of time I’ve wished it to disappearπŸ˜‚

    14. Loved reading the wrap-up, Katie! Sadly, February was an awful reading month for me, so I’m a little behind on my reading goals, but I hope March will turn out better. And don’t get me started about school, we’re literally having an exam next week!! Anyway, some of the books you mentioned here sound pretty promising, so I might give them a try. πŸ™‚
