December Wrap-Up // Holidays & Lots of Good Books!

Welcome to my last wrap up of the year!

We’ve finally made it to 2021!! It’s surreal, after the crazy year that was 2020. Hopefully our lives can go back to normal (probably not but we can hope!).

I read 10 books this month! This year (well technically half year because I started blogging and using Goodreads around June), I read a total of about 75 books, which I’m pretty happy with!

  • Now That I’ve Found You by Kristina Forest ☾ I loved this more than expected; it was such a fluffy contemporary! ★★★★☆
  • Rent a Boyfriend by Gloria Chao ☾ this was really cute and I really enjoyed it ★★★☆☆ (3.5)
  • The Boy Who Steals Houses by C.G. Drews ☾ this was a reread of an all-time favorite, and it was just as good as the last time I read it ★★★★★
  • Always Never Yours by Emily Wibberly and Austin Siegemund-Brokka ☾ I didn’t really care for any of the characters, and it was overall okay ★★★☆☆
  • Tarnished Are the Stars by Rosiee Thor ☾ the queer rep in this was done so well!! but sadly the other parts of the story just didn’t work well with me ★★★☆☆
  • The Weight of the Stars by K. Ancrum ☾ this was,,, so good and I cried (a lot 😭) lskdjfkaj ★★★★★
  • Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan ☾ this was such a beautifully written sapphic Asian fantasy that I was so invested in (I need the second book now please) ★★★★☆
  • The Dragon Republic by R.F. Kuang ☾ this hurt my soul and caused me pain and suffering but it was so, so good ★★★★★
  • Crier’s War by Nina Varela ☾ I really enjoyed this (especially the sapphic yearning) and I can’t wait to read the next book! ★★★★☆
  • Every Single Lie by Rachel Vincent ☾ this was a haunting story that shined a well-needed light on teen pregnancy, all while keeping me hooked ★★★★☆
    • I kind of disappeared for two weeks this month because of finals, but now that’s all over and I’m back!!

I rewatched ATLA (I adore the Gaang so much 🥺)!! It’s one of my all-time favorite TV shows and I’m obsessed with it, if you can’t tell. Watch it, please.

I also watched season two of The Mandalorian, which I enjoyed immensely and then promptly started waiting for season three (which releases December 2021 nO).

I’m very disappointed that my winter break is ending in a day. Yay, stress (but at least spring break is coming up in,,, two months 😭).

how was your december? have you watched ATLA yet?? what were some of your favorite books you’ve read this month?

    1. Great wrap up! Looks like you had a pretty great month of reading 😊 I desperately want to read The Boy Who Steals Houses and I’ve also heard so many amazing things about The Weight of Stars. I really need to bump those up my TBR (but also actually add them to either my physical or digital shelves haha)! I’m also super keen to finally finish TPW series… I know Dragon Republic is probs gonna slay my feels as much as TPW did… And I don’t even know what Burning God is going to do to me… But we’re here for it! Haha I hope you have a great January! Happy reading 😊

    3. What a great month you had, especially with taking time off for exams! The Burning God hurt me but it was so amazing! You’ve got some books that I’m dying to read like Girls of Paper and Fire and Criers War, and some more that are getting added to my TBR immediately!

    4. I absolutely love ATLA! I found out about it from my brother and ended up liking it even more than he did, haha! I’ve been meaning to read some of the graphic novels too because they look like fun reads. 🙂

Just wondering, have you watched Legend of Korra?

    5. You had a GREAT reading month! I’m sorry that you didn’t enjoy Tarnished much but I’m glad you liked the queer rep! Ooh, I read Girls of Paper and Fire a while ago, it was pretty good. It’s one of those books, though, that I feel like doesn’t need a second book and the second book may just crash. I don’t think I’ll read book 2 when it comes out just because aside from the epilogue, this book ended just fine. I’ve been wanting to read Criers War for a while now, I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Aaaaaah I’m still watching ATLA because I’m ridiculously slow at watching shows–I’m a little more than halfway through and have been watching it since, like, August or September!!! We have a whole line of shows that we need to get through. I’m glad you like it though!
(Just a show rec if you need something to watch…I’d suggest Julie and the Phantoms, it’s amazing, the phantoms are all cinnamon rolls, the music is beautiful and the show is just all around awesome. Please please please watch it so we can scream about it together).

        1. Well, I hope that book 2 isn’t bad for you! Ooh, a trilogy of course haha. I’ll try too! No promises since…I’ve got a lot of books to read.

Yeah, well, I just finished season 2 last night we’ll see how long it takes me to get through season 3 haha. Korra’s next on our list of things to watch! I am enjoying ATLA so far!

YES PLEEEEEEEEEEASE WATCH IT RIGHT NOW AAAAH. I’ve already watched it once and now I’m watching it again (with my family this time) and it’s just SO GOOD. Also PLEASE talk to me about it when you watch it haha I sound so, like, commanding but I think I’m going to eventually run out of things to talk about about it with my sister AND she’ll get fed up (wait no that already happened) and yah.
