2021 is almost here.
And I’m so excited for it! That’s why I’m sharing some new book releases (aka more books to add to your TBR)!
I’ve actually been putting off this post for a while now, but I really needed to share these new books and just yell about them in general.
There are so many diverse books coming out next year that I just had to scream over some even though I have absolutely NO time to read all of them, but still desperately need to.
QUEERS AND COSPLAY. I repeat, QUEERS AND COSPLAY. Me, *hyperventilating* I may…need this… slightly 😳 This sounds so cute and fluffy <33
happily ever afters by elise bryant
This one’s been on my TBR since…I think April, when I first heard about it? Basically, a very long time 🥺 I like the cover, but I love the premise even more. It’s a debut, and I’m very eager to get my hands on this!
Who wouldn’t want a book about a black girl who finds out she’s half-human, half-god, and uses her magic to save both her worlds?? The cover is literal perfection and I NEED IT.
a dark and hollow star by ashley shuttleworth
An urban fantasy? A serial killer? And a queer cast of characters?? This book sounds dark and angsty and just absolutely AMAZING.
all the tides of fate by adalyn grace
I have been waiting for this for what seems like forever. All the Stars and Teeth didn’t end on a painful cliffhanger, but I’m still excited to see what’ll be happening in this one!!
the gilded ones by namina forna
I have an unhealthy obsession with this cover. Let’s just take a moment to appreciate this gorgeous cover that I HAVE BEEN IN LOVE WITH SINCE THE MOMENT I FIRST SAW IT. Also it is a west-African fantasy that sounds so amazing I NEED!!
the mirror season by anna-marie mclemore
Anna-Marie Mclemore has some of the most beautiful writing I’ve ever seen, and I’m sure this one will be no exception. Just three more months until it comes out!!
can’t take that away by steven salvatore
This is about an enby who’s cast as a female role in a musical and they fight against discrimination. I’ve already heard amazing things about this and I am so intrigued!
lost in the never woods by aiden thomas
Another release from one of my favorite authors!! I loved their debut, Cemetery Boys, and I (somehow) got an eARC of this which I am so excited to get to!
ravage the dark by tara sim
I’m putting all my trust in Tara Sim to make this a good sequel! After the delight that was Scavenge the Stars, I can’t wait to read more of Amara & Cayo’s story.
bone crier’s dawn by kathryn purdie
yES ANOTHER SEQUEL. I’ve been waiting for this for months. And IT’S STILL NOT IN MY HANDS. And I may or may not be reading this just for the gorgeous Charlie Bowater cover…
forest of stolen girls by june hur
I just recently learned about this one, and I am completely sold by it already. It’s a historical mystery that’s set in Joseon, Korea. And how can I not be excited by this (because, if you don’t already know, I’m Korean)!
Do I need to explain why I picked this one. NO. Bowman’s writing is some of the best I’ve seen and I’m so excited for this one. I loved Starfish and after I read this, I’ll probably need therapy, not gonna lie.
A Jamaican-inspired fantasy debut with witches from enemy castes who form an alliance because they want revenge!! Exactly what I want to read about. TAKE MY MONEY.
hani and ishu’s guide to fake dating by adiba jaigirdar
I’ve read The Henna Wars (the author’s debut), and I’m so excited for this one! Sapphic fake dating! Asian rep! Aka everything I want in a book! 😌👌 So hello I am completely sold by this (and that cover).
meet cute diary by emery lee
I love this already! It just sounds so good and the cover screams cuteness (everything about this is adorable–the serotonin ahhh!!). AND it’s full of tropes I love–fake dating, meet cutes, enemies-to-lovers, mutual pining! I’m so hyped up for this 😚 Edelweiss I am looking at you to approve my request 🤔
some girls do by jennifer dugan
This one is a contemporary with sapphics. That’s literally all it takes for me to add it to my TBR ❤️
counting down with you by tashie bhuiyan
Everything about this book sounds ABSOLUTELY perfect. And to add onto that, there’s ownvoices anxiety rep, a South-Asian MC, and the cover (of course there is a cover but it’s giving me FEELS because I’m soft)!!
made in korea by sarah suk
Another book with Korean rep?? But this time about two teens and rival K-beauty businesses?? PLEASE I WILL DO ANYTHING FOR THIS.
the ones we’re meant to find by joan he
The Asian girls on this cover could step on me and I’d thank them for their time. This sounds so interesting and I am READY TO EXPERIENCE PAIN. I haven’t read any books by Joan He yet, but I’m very eager to pick up this one!
It honestly should be illegal to have to wait this long for a book. It has everything I want–Asian sapphics, found family, and enemies-to-lovers!! AHHH I CAN’T 🥺
an emotion of great delight by tahereh mafi
This was originally described by the author as “a very sad book,” and when the title was finally announced, I was very intrigued 🤨🙌 I loved the Shatter Me series (even if it took forever to read), and her other standalone.
K. Ancrum is out there really giving us readers everything we want, and this time, it’s a queer peter pan retelling set in Chicago!!
fifteen hundred miles from the sun by jonny garza villa
I’ve had my eyes on this book since the dawn of time (yes, I was there). THIS SOUNDS SO QUEER AND SOFT AND SAD AND AMAZING. Also the cover isn’t even out yet and I need to seeee it 👀
