November Wrap-Up // I Failed At Life in General But At Least I Read a Lot!!

Did November even exist? Did I imagine it??

November felt like it lasted a few minutes. And I actually have no recollection of what has happened this year. I can’t remember anything anymore. Help please.

Hopefully December is less chaotic and slightly better than November. Mostly I’m looking forward to Christmas but definitely not cold weather (I hate it).

I read 15 books this month! Which is surprising, considering how busy I’ve been with school. I usually have a monthly TBR set, but this time, I ended up not sticking to it at all…

Anyways, I loved a lot of these books (some of which emotionally destroyed me), and I’m happy with how diverse they were!

A Curse of Roses The Beauty of the Moment Divided Fire The Gilded Wolves

  • A Curse of Roses by Diana Pinguicha // this was such an immersive historical fantasy and the f/f romance was so good! ★★★★☆
  • The Beauty of the Moment by Tanaz Bhathena // I honestly didn’t care for the other characters, just the romance ★★★☆☆ [3.5]
  • Divided Fire by Jennifer San Filippo // the concept of the magic system in this was so interesting to see and I liked it more than I though I would ★★★★☆
  • The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi // I loved the cast of characters in this and there were heists ★★★★☆
  • Starfish Darius the Great Is Not Okay Darius the Great Is Not Okay when the moon was ours

  • Starfish by Akemi Dawn Bowman // this completely broke me. I have very strong feelings about this one, which will probably go down as one of my all-time favorites ★★★★★
  • Darius the Great Is Not Okay by Adib Khorram // I was emotionally destroyed by this and the cultural aspect of it was so interesting to read about ★★★★★ [4.5]
  • Darius the Great Deserves Better by Adib Khorram // it was so nice to be back with Darius (aka my favorite gay) ★★★★☆
  • When the Moon Was Ours by Anna Marie-McLemore // this was my first book of McLemore’s, and I ended up loving it. their writing is so magical, and this was such an amazing book ★★★★☆ [3.5]
  • not your sidekick kpop confidential patron saints of nothing warcross

  • Not Your Sidekick by C.B. Lee // I loved the concept of this and the characters were so lovable! there was a lot of LGBTQIAP+ rep in this, which I appreciated ★★★★☆
  • K-Pop Confidential by Stephan Lee // I enjoyed reading about the k-pop industry, and the friendship relationships in this are to die for ★★★★☆
  • Patron Saints of Nothing by Randy Ribay // this was such a though-provoking, powerful novel that everyone should read. I cried…look away ★★★★☆ [4.5]
  • Warcross by Marie Lu // I usually don’t like the virtual reality/video game trope in books, but this one did it for me (and of course it had to be Marie Lu) ★★★★☆
  • wildcard astonishing color of after seven deadly shadows

  • Wildcard by Marie Lu // the sequel was disappointing. that’s all I have to say ★★☆☆☆ [2.5]
  • The Astonishing Color of After by Emily X.R. Pan // I loved this!! magical realism is so…magical. but I also cried ★★★★☆
  • Seven Deadly Shadows by Courtney Alameda & Valynne E. Maetani // Japanese mythology is so interesting to read about. I loved the atmosphere of it, and overall, it did not disappoint! ★★★☆☆ [3.5]

    • And I’m actually caught up with most of the comments!
    • I also might take a short hiatus for semester finals coming up in mid-December, and I’m running low on content ideas and motivation.

In November, I didn’t do much. I read a lot. Plus break, and it felt so nice to get away from school, even for just a week. Sitting around at home, reading, playing Among Us, yeah,,,

I read some webcomics this month that were so, so good. I have to rec Freaking Romance, Castle Swimmer, The Fever King (which I just finished and have so many thoughts about), and My Deepest Secret. Check these out when you can (because you need to read them).

    1. Starfish is AMAZING – i first read it back in 2017, and i remember tearing up over how relatable the main character was to me – her struggles with social anxiety really resonated with me :’) i’m so glad to see that you loved it as well 💜 and ahhh Warcross is probably my favorite book by Marie Lu, i’m happy you enjoyed it too! it’s such a fun and engaging sci-fi 🤩

    2. I’m a tad late to this post so I hope you’re enjoying your December! Ah seems like you read SO MANY great books, basically all of which I’m super excited to read. Especially Starfish, omg I can’t wait to read it, it’s been on my tbr for far too long. And also The Astonishing Colour of After. Hope you enjoy your break <3<3

    3. Aaaaaaaah I love your new style! It’s amazing!
Wow, 15 books is WAY better than me. I mean honestly I’ve probably already read 15 books this month just because I read Fence over and over and over but like…they’re graphic novels, it barely counts. I only read 11 this month.
I WANT TO READ NOT YOUR SIDEKICK SO MUCHHHHH. It sounds absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, with all the other books I want to read I prob won’t get to it very soon…

I’m so glad to see you discovered a new fav… ahh I loved Warcross so so much, though I wasn’t disappointed by Wildcard, I thought that Warcross was definitely superior… Also, all the best for your finals Katie!!

    6. November didn’t really have high lights

I pretty much only read one novel- Little Women. The rest came from A Treasury of Hans Christian Anderson and A Christmas Treasury. So Little Women and a number of short stories and poems

I always look forward to December
